Vinted Shoppers Voice Frustration Over Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
